(More customer reviews)These chews were hardly soft enough for my senior chihuahuas to eat with their elderly part toothless mouths, but I put some water in the bag, ziplocked it shut and shook it up, let it sit overnight and the chews were much softer and easier to break up for them. If you have a small dog, you will have to do this because these "soft chews" are too dry and too hard to be chewed!!

(More customer reviews)February 8, 2006: We were considering hip replacement surgery for our 90 lb lab who was diagnosed with hip dysplaysia. Our vet recommended we try Cosequin DS first. We had tried similar products with no improvement and didn't expect this to work either. We were wrong. There was a marked difference in our lab's activity level within the first two weeks. Currently, he plays runs, and jumps with no pain. This product worked wonders for our dog.
UPDATE June 18, 2007: Cosequin did work wonders for our lab, but he also has Degenerative Myelopathy which was missed due to the hip dysplasia. We had never heard of this disease and didn't know the signs or symptoms to watch for. Please, if your dog is on a joint therapy product, search for Degenerative Myelopathy on the internet and familiarize yourself with the symptoms. As the disease progresses without treatment, your dog's chance for recovery and/or stabilization become less and less. The University of Florida has a lot of information on their website regarding this disease and a video depicting dogs in various stages of this disease.

Cosequin DS appears to have really made a difference!!! He is able to get up & down more easily than with other supplements I have tried. His gait appears to be better & he appears have much less stiffness. At 14, he's not going to run around like a puppy, but I am very pleased with the results so far.

I have always used the Missing Link supplement for my Border Collie, Macadoodle, and have recently upgraded to the Plus Glucosamine Formula due to his just turning 12 years old.
Missing Link is simply amazing in the fact that it seems to have set the clock back a few years for Mac. For instance, Mac has any easier time getting up from a laying down position and does not appear to be stiff anymore. He also moves swiftly up and down the stairs-like he used to-when he was younger. The added Glucosamine seems to have helped him with stiffness and mobility.
Missing Link formula is so wondrous that I was seriously thinking of adding to my own smoothies! LOL. I was envious of Mac's lustrous coat!
I know the Missing Link formula has made a measureable difference in the luster of Mac's coat. In fact, once I ran out of Missing Link and was unable to find it at my local pet store anymore. The short time Mac was without Missing Link, his coast lost its brilliance: The once shiny coat became dull.
I then discovered Missing Link on Amazon.com. I found the Glucosamine Plus formula and what an amazing difference! I hope they never stop making Missing Link. I have given Missing Link to Mac for 12 years and people cannot believe Mac is 12. They are amazed because he looks and moves around like a much younger dog. I am certain Missing Link has had a big part in why Mac has never had any health issues and continues to be an active healthy dog. I highly recommend this truly amazing supplement. Oh...and Mac Loves it, too!

(More customer reviews)My dog has short hair and has had a problem with skin rashes, hot spots, etc. I've had her to the vet on a couple of occasions and he would give her antibiotics and steroids which would eventually and temporarily clear it up. The outbreaks were becoming more frequent and I wanted a better solution so began looking online. I began working to boost her immune system with vitamins and I ordered this yucca extract figuring it wouldn't hurt--I add it to her food twice a day when she's having symptoms. I also purchased some sprays with natural ingrediants like yucca, aloe, etc to use topically. I believe the combination of these things has helped to promote quicker healing. When I see the beginnings of an outbreak I increase the yucca dose and it seems to reduce the spread and degree of the irritation.

The picture shown holds 180 soft chews. The package I paid for and received, which is a small pouch, contained 60 chews. I tried multiple times, both by phone and e-mail, to contact the seller and received no response. Had I known that I had purchased 60 chews and not 180, I never would have made this purchase.

It is probably due to arthritis, but she was born with small bone structure, which may have something to do with it. She doesn't have the thick legs and joints of your average herding dog. We put her on a product called FlexPet ([...]) for quite a while, which had fair results in the beginning, but later our sheltie would just lay around because she could not comfortably get up.
When she started to struggle even though we were giving her the FlexPet, we decided to change what we were giving her. We remembered that there was another tablet that we had read about in "The Whole Dog Journal", a monthly journal dedicated to the health and well-being of canines. After going through back issues that we have archived, we found the article in the May 2006 issue about American BioSciences DGP and decided to try it. The issue of "WDJ" can be found at the DGP website: [...] . We have had our sheltie on DGP now for about three months now and she is getting around better than she has in years. She jumps on and off the couch now, which is something that she hasn't been able to do in about 4 or 5 years (not for a lack of trying).
The FlexPet didn't work for us, but that's not to say that it won't work for other dogs. Different dogs may have drastically different reactions to the same remedy. In our case, the first supplement that we had our sheltie on worked for a while, but then stopped working. Other dogs do very well on the same supplement. When the first stopped working, we switched to this DGP and, so far, we have had extraordinary results. Hopefully the same thing will not happen with this supplement and our sheltie will continue to be full of energy and life.

She dislocated her hip at the age of five and we were told her arthritis was too severe to pin her hip, so we had her leg bone chopped off so it no longer reaches her hip. As a bonus, it has solved one of the dogs caprophagia that he's had since birth (7 years) - at least 75% of the time, which is more than I've been able to achieve with any other remedy I've tried. This liquid form of glucosomine has about the same ingredients as those cosequin pills and I can easily mix it in her food with no smell issues! She eats it every time!! It has taken some of the limp out of her back legs and she seems to move a little easier when taking this med.
